FINALLY! Gap announced today they are getting rid of their new logo! Apparently the logo caused such a stir (in a bad way) with consumers and the media that the company feels it has no choice but to get rid of the awful logo.
I don't normally buy things in Gap. For the simple reason that it's not my style and there isn't Gap in Dublin. (as far as I know) but, I really hate this logo. It looks like a computer company logo. It's cheap and nasty looking.
So anyway - here is what someone from the company had to say about the logo being removed :
“We’ve learned a lot in this process. And we are clear that we did not go about this in the right way. We recognize that we missed the opportunity to engage with the online community. This wasn’t the right project at the right time for crowd sourcing.
There may be a time to evolve our logo, but if and when that time comes, we’ll handle it in a different way.”
- I'll say you will! Costly mistake lads!
