I'm in another soulless airport.
This is my third flight in the past few weeks.
I am fairly sick of removing my belt and shoes at this stage but I am enjoying the time in the Duty Free. I feel, since I left make up, a little bit cut off from the beauty industry. However, its been nice to be able to find products for myself. When you have a 10-70% discount (MUA discount is the BOMB!) on certain brands, it becomes very different to shop outside this.
The airport is a fun time for me. I get to sample, spritz, read and shop to my hearts content.
I came across the 'Beauty Lab' in Copenhagen airport like a woman who had never seen mascara in her life. A hunger for cosmetics I haven't felt in months came across me. I bounced from Sephora to Sephora spending over £70 in three days. I needed it right?
So what did I invest in?
TONY MOLY COOL EYE STICK
This is a present for the sister so I haven't technically tried this. I've wanted to get some Tony Moly stuff for a while. It's a Korean skincare brand so not readily available everywhere yet. I am not quite sure if this will pass the test or not since I am a bit wary that the packaging is cute as hell. Anyone got any Tony Moly reviews for me?
I was curious about it since it had a stick almost gel like texture to it. I know my sister is bothered by her eye area so this could be something to try.
TONY MOLY LIP BALM
I got this for the girlfriend as I currently have an amazing collection of lip balms from a press event that I'm struggling to get through. However I have to say I'm not blown away by this. It's not as moisturising as I would have liked. I wonder if this is a bad sign to come with the eye stick. All cute packaging and no substance. It also looks like it should be tinted but alas, it is not.
Too Faced Melted Matte.
Love love love this. I have a lipstick ban on at the moment. The reason being that I am the worst for picking up colours here and there. I have a shoebox full. I would imagine its not as bad as it was when I orginally left make up artistry. I had about 60+ lipsticks including my palettes. I cleared a lot out and now its down to at least 30. I don't know what grabbed me about this but I loved it. I've worn it since (once) and also found it really easy to wear. I'm so used to the MAC liquid lipsticks which are awful. But this feels a lot easier to wear. The colour is also a dream. I just wish I had a better lip liner match for it then a MAC Chromaline pencil in Marine Blue. Those are not lip liners for the longwear!
ORIGINS CLEAR IMPROVEMENT ACTIVE CHARCOAL MASK
I've had this a few times. I really like it. It feels like it cleans all the nasty gunk out of my pores without the tingly burn of a Glam Glow. However, I think as I'm trying to find an alternative to the GG masks (the price tag is too much for so little now my discount is gone) and I seem to have gotten used to quite a strong charcoal mask. This is starting to feel a bit weak for my skin. I am interested in trying some of the more *ahem* painful masks out there. I'm talking about the Hell Pore peel off masks. I am planning on a post as soon as I get one to play with.
But I couldn't resist the tiny version of this at the airport in order to use up all the DKK I had.
SEPHORA WATERPROOF MASCARA
I know mascara is one of the least exciting items to buy. Sadly, it's one I can't do without. I've had to admit defeat on my MAC mascara and call it a day. I've just used it all up. I wanted to try something different as I've had every MAC mascara going for the past six years and a bit due to working for them.
While this is not exciting as a purchase, it has been ok. I'm neither blown away or horrified. I chose waterproof as my mascara runs due to the fact I have leaky eyes. Which I am sure has a technical description better then 'leaky eyes.' But there you go.
So what did I have fun playing with?
SEPHORA BLUE LIQUID LINER
I have to say that I sampled this and the Kat Von D version and there was a clear winner. I found the Sephora one to be less 'liquid' and more opaque than the expensive counterpart. Which was surprising. This product comes in a range of colours but I am leaning towards blue everything at the minute oddly so this was the one that caught my eye. I am sorry I didn't pick it up. My hair is currently an icy blue which I am fading out so I can re-dye. I think using bright colours like this in a liner or mascara can be tricky. My green hair has meant an end to using the lovely lavender lipsticks I have since the two do not mix. I can't wait until I cant change my colours again.
SEPHORA VOLUME ON BLUE MASCARA
This brought back a horror story about a Sephora in Italy. I have to admit that Sephora in Italy is awful. I can't get on with them at all. Their product selection is brutal. Once when I was shopping I had a MUA in the store go to try their new product on me. It was an eyeliner. But some bright spark had decided that it would be great to make a liner that you could pop onto the top of your finger and use like a pencil topper.
The MUA had obviously never used what was clearly an awful product to begin with. She proceeded to butcher my eyeliner and then give me the worst make up job I have ever seen after ten years in make up. I said nothing and walked out with it. I will not EVER be that woman. We all have off days in make up or have to start somewhere. I respect my fellow retail MUAs.
But this product made me smile to remember that.
I loved this product. I also tried on the teal version and wish I had bought it. It was really lovely for a pop of colour against a black eyeliner. It gave great volume and had great staying power. It actually stayed put even when I eye watered my way through a tattoo later in the day. Sold.
