Thursday Night Fashion Reality TV!!! "Project Runway" Recap

Good Morning!

Last night drug
by to me. Starting off with Project Runway....

Project Runway
Season 7

Guest judges tonight was Molly Simms and Collier Strong. I am missing Mr. Micheal Kors of course!

The 8 designers had to "make it work!"...of course, by constructing in teams of two, two garments; one for day and one for evening, based on one of 4 different NYC neighborhoods.

Working in teams of 2 posed some difficulty for some designers who ended up in the bottom two, like Jay and Mila who had the East Village. Their very different design aesthetics and diverse personalities dictated their designs. Jay who produced the day look, of a pair of tan woven skinny legged pants with a balloon pocket features were cute and innovative to me, but I agree with the judges about the paired red and black color blocked tank top being made poorly. One guest judge, Collier Strong from L'oreal Paris did like the outfit, but had it had some tweaking. Mila's black and white colored blocked jacket received a better reception, accessorized with red tights and red lips.

Another bottom team Jonathan and Amy with their poor attempt to be inspired by the upper east side. Jonathan headed the night look with a paneled dress in a pea-ish green that was too "overworked". I knew he was going to do that while watching him cut piece after piece, after piece. While part of the shape was good, the panels on the side, made it look "cheap". Sweet little Amy was sent home after pretty much showing that she didn't have any taste, still producing a nicely shaped dress/shirt, with poor construction and color choice. The problem with the top I believed could have been solved with simplifying the tops color to a black, white, Hell! green would have been acceptable, anything but that dreadful orange and yellow. Who on the UPPER EAST SIDE do you see wearing that!?

Jonathan

The top designers deserved the accolades. Maya and Anthony rocked it with their China town inspired dress, made by Anthony and structured black and gold jacket & skirt. Anthony's 3-D diamond applique along the front a a well fitted black v neck dress was nice. I didn't think at first it was THAT great but his construction was flawless. The judges LOVED Maya's jacked, especially the tastefully done, cutout sleeves and bagota bottom of the jacket.

Anthony
The Winners of the Challenge and by far the best were Seth Aaron and Emilio. They worked dark hard denim into their Harlem inspired designs. Seth Aarons edgy aesthetic worked on a full denim jacket and skinny legged jeans that had his signature edge to it given by some nicely placed gold zippers. The look was translated very well into Emilio's long denim dress that was lined with a satin gold interior. I thought the dress was missing something.....sex appeal. The judges did as well, but with the full zipper that ran from neckline to bottom, the wearer could unzip as much as necessary to have as much skin as possible.

Emilio & Seth Aaron
Overall the judges picked the designer who had been steadily declining, to go home...mmm mmm mmm. Amy was a nice girl, but ya gotta go!

Amy
Can't wait until next week!!!
