I was hoping for a more upbeat post after a long silence, but was saddened to hear of Des O’Connor’s passing this morning. Des was a constant fixture on TV in my youth and beyond, being one of those cosy recording artists that personified easy listening. Of course, for my age group he was more famous for being the butt of Eric Morecambe’s jokes, so for that reason I will end on on a lighter note: I dare you not to watch this and laugh. RIP Des...
